Grape + Bean in AlexandriaGrape + Bean is a cool hang out spot for a cup of coffee or a glass (or two) of wine with a gourmet sandwich.

There is always great coffee brewing and excellent wine pairing specials.  The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about their offerings.  The atmosphere is a perfect mix of casual and trendy.

Even though the intimate interior can be crowded you can usually find a spot to sit.  They offer salads, sandwiches, cheese boards – and they rotate the coffee selection, just as they do seasonally with different wines (I think).

If you are visiting the nearby art galleries its the perfect place to take a break afterwards.  The crowd is a little more hip than your typical King Street/Old Town tourist joint.  While you’re here you can pick up a unique hostess gift.

I’m not a food writer – so I have trouble writing like a “critic” about the food – I saw this in a Yelp review – and LOL!  (I love bacon too!)  “This time I tried the Nueske’s Applewood Smoked Bacon + Heirloom Tomato, and it made concentrating on work difficult.  Images of the thick slices of tender, not crispy, sweet, not bitter bacon floated in and out of my mind.. The heirloom tomatoes, thick slabs of juicy flesh, seduce your taste buds . The fig jam lightly caresses each bite, making this the slowest sandwich eating ever.”  (let’s just stick with the sandwiches are yummy!)
