Glitter Shoes
A couple of weekends ago it was unseasonably cold and pouring rain. Our weekend plans were ruined. I had an errand to run in Vienna and thought it would be a great idea to take the girls to Tyson’s Corner to buy some new shoes and have “fun” at the mall. I thought it would be fun for the girls to get “officially” measured and pick out their own shoes and then we’d have lunch at the cafe! It was going to be perfect.
Even though we got there right when the mall opened the shoe department was complete chaos. The excursion only headed south from there. The shoes were all about $80 a pair. Seriously. I have to say the selection was somewhat limited too compared to what I was expecting.
Our time at the mall went from bad to worse fast and lunch at the cafe was downgraded to a pretzel from Aunt Annie’s. I won’t get into details but those of you with young children need no explanation. We left with a stroller under my left arm, my shoe and sock-less 2-year old in the right arm and my 3-year-old crying.
Once we got home I discovered that although we spent time getting fitted the $80 Italian shoes “were too tight” and “hurt.” We walked around inside and talked about this at length. My daughter flat-out refused to wear them. So then I had to waste even more time returning them.
Yesterday I stopped by Purple Goose. and found two really nice pairs of shoes, Pediped and See Kai Run, for $45 and $55. I didn’t even see these brands at Nordstrom. I was in and out of Purple Goose in less than 10 minutes and the shoes were a hit
