Home Office Chic

Here is a photo of my home office

Well…… not really but isn’t it pretty? The fact is whether you work at  home or you’re are the CEO of the household you need your own space to work and stay organized. At times your home office can also serve as sanctuary from the chaos going on in the rest of the house. There is no reason why this room can’t be functional and beautiful.

Even tiny spaces can be your command center

Good lighting and storage are key. If you don’t have a space with much natural light (a basement or closet for example) keep your paint colors light and invest in a high-quality lamp. Using monochromatic organizational tools make even the smallest spaces look streamlined. Container Store offers some great options.

Use rugs, upholstered chairs and nice artwork to make your office feel less utilitarian.  Built-ins are great for turning an entire wall into a well organized and aesthetically pleasing workspace.

Realtor Tip: if you are using an extra bedroom as your home office and plan to have built-ins installed, make sure there is still enough room for a bed and consider choosing a color like white for the cabinetry. Bedrooms are valuable when it comes to resale so its always a good idea to keep your bedrooms in tact. If you have 5 or more bedrooms this isn’t an issue. Now, if  your issue is that you don’t have enough bedrooms to create your home office call me and I’ll find it for you : )
