Mom Made Foods

Most of us would prefer to have healthy meals made from scratch every single night but few of us have the time.  I was doing an unrelated web search the other night and and came across the Mom Made Foods website. As it turns out the owner, Heather Stouffer, lives right here in Alexandria and was recognized in the Washington Business Journal’s Top 40 Under 40 last year. Heather started Mom Made Foods in  2006 after struggling to find healthy, high quality store-bought alternatives to meals made from scratch. Growing up in a family that...

The Real Santa’s in Old Town

There’s only one real Santa and he’s in Old Town this year. He’ll be making a special appearance in the Scottish Christmas Walk tomorrow and then he’ll be at 210 S. Union Street every Saturday and Sunday. I’ve done the Santa photo-op with my girls 3 times. The first year, my oldest was almost 1 and we went to Landmark Mall because I’d heard there were no lines and while that was true the whole experience was a little weird. In the end we were left with a photo where I had to dangle my daughter over...

Cox Farm

Cox Farm is the ultimate fall festival destination for Northern Virginia! This 90 acre farm of fun activities is located close to Dulles Airport and is opened daily from 10am to 6pm. We went during the week and it was perfect! The many slides, hay rides, farm animals (plus their babies!), corn maze combined with live music and yummy kettle corn made for a great day. Cox Farms has specific areas geared towards the younger kids but all ages were enjoying the activities. Our 2.5 year old went down every slide and had so much fun feeding the...

Special Deal at Montpelier Farms

You may have seen Montpelier Farms included in the pumpkin patches. We went to this one last year and it was easier to get to (not having to deal with 66) and less crowded than some of the big ones. It turns out they are offering a special deal

Mommy & Me Jimmy John’s

For this weeks lunch with my daughter I was really craving Mediterranean food and since the purpose of this blog is to try new places and things I googled Mediterranean restaurants in Alexandria and came up with Mazza. Located in the Carlyle property across from the King st. Metro I thought this would be a perfect choice. We parked on the street and searched the whole property only to discover that just like every other restaurant I’ve tried to find over there, it was gone. Remember Stella’s? I knew I should have called first. I...

Tiny Dancers Behind The Pink Doors

Posted by on Sep 22, 2011 in Family | 0 comments

Tiny Dancers works with children at a very young age, teaching confidence and a love for the classical movements.  Classes are age appropriate, and the girls LOVE to play dress up!  I often see little girls still in their ballerina outfits from class wandering the grocery stores with parents, they are so cute! It is a very popular studio! My friends love that Tiny Dancers offers summer camps, workshops and Mom and Me classes at their South Washington Street studio.  The summer camps are only 2.5 hours each day, and included Angelina...
