I have found a boutique that I am really excited about!

Before I moved back to Alexandria five years ago we lived in a condo on Ridge Road in Arlington. I found myself on 23rd street frequently. Living in Alexandria I tend to by-pass 23rd when I’m headed to Arlington but my early morning run meets at Pentagon Row and often goes up 23rd street. I noticed the sign for Gossip on 23rd several times running but hadn’t made it over there during business hours.

I was doing a little online research the other night and came across their website and was intrigued, so yesterday I decided to stop by and check it out. I’m so glad I did. This was one of those shops where I had a picture in my mind of what it would be like and I walked in and it was so much more than I expected. Katherine Glorioso is the owner and she is super- friendly and down-to-earth. It turns out Gossip On 23rd has been in business for 4 years and this past year she tripled the store’s size, expanding into the space next door.

Gossip was busy at 2pm on a random Tuesday which is a good sign. Katherine was helping customers (some of whom appeared to be regulars) pick out clothes and try them on. She explained that everything in the shop is under $100. Her intention was to keep the pricing reasonable for her customers and she does not take the full mark-up on clothing and merchandise that other boutiques would. A Northern Virginia native, Katherine spent some time in LA before moving back to the area to work in the mortgage industry. When the financial crisis hit she decided it was time to follow her passion and open up her own boutique.

Children's Clothing

Gossip On 23rd carries a a wide variety of apparel including dresses, tops, T’s and jeans. Gossip caters to women of all sizes and even has a “Curvacious” section. The clothing is mainly geared toward women but she also carries cool t-shirts for guys as well as gift items and some children’s clothing including one of my favorite lines, Mud Pie. She also has tons of jewelry and accessories. All of the clothing is by California designers so its different from anything else you’ll find around here.

Recently my brother, who lives in Brooklyn, was telling me about a couple of shops there that have very cool clothing at extremely reasonable prices. I was thinking about how I wish we had something like that here and after visiting Gossip it appears we do.

I found the cutest dress for $45. What a deal! Next time you are looking for something fashionable I highly recommend heading over to Gossip.
